Glass

Posted on

With only a single entry for this week’s “Harmonium” challenge, we draw heavily on the RadioSpiral library this week for a program inspired by glass in many states.

For the “Harmonium” challenge, artists were to take glass sounds (struck, rung, sung, blown, etc.) and make music of the sounds. We only received one brief entry (thank you, Cloudwalk!), but the topic inspired a fascinating show anyway.

We’ll listen to artists’ interpretations of glass in various states — shattered, smooth, stained, still, and much more. We’ll hear the challenge track from Cloudwalk, and then turn to the RadioSpiral archives for works from ʞu¡0ɹʞS, John Koch-Northrup, Bing Satellites, Luna Firma, Max Corbacho, Robert Rich, Tone Ghost Ether, Tony Gerber, Numina, Emerald Adrift, EugeneKha, Michael Brückner, Thom Brennan, Pallid Mask, Jack Hertz, and Altus.

On this edition of At Water’s Edge, we are lost, we wander, and we are found.

The RadioSpiral library is full of wonderful musical journeys from all kinds of artists creating all kinds of sounds. Today we wander through its towers and stacks, and get a little lost along the way, stopping to say hello to Silvercord, EugeneKha, Sequential Dreams, ontol, Altus, Cousin Silas, Brother Saturn, Erik Wøllo and Byron Metcalf, Darren Harper, Incandescent Void, Bing Satellites, and Gregory Bond.

Snow

Posted on

In the North Carolina Highlands, also known as Asheville, forecasters are predicting snow this weekend. It stands to reason that “Snow” should be today’s topic on At Water’s Edge.

We’ll hear all kinds of snow music from all kinds of artists in the RadioSpiral library, including a collaboration yours truly did with Scott Lawlor some years ago called “Recollecting the Snow”.

Grab a blanket, stoke up the fire, heat up the cocoa, and join us for “Snow” from At Water’s Edge.
